Maybe Mr. McBride's mom is Jewish while his dad is Christian or something like that. That's what my mom and dad are.

Several McBride children, but yes...

Don't forget John Kerry's (D-MA) newfound Jewish roots!

My favorite was when I called my friend a week before her wedding. Her dad, a Greek (Grecian?) immigrant (Greek Orthodox), was helping her Jewish fiance build the chuppah. Mazel tov!

"Don't forget John Kerry's (D-MA) newfound Jewish roots!"

Those were only newfound by the Boston Globe and folks who are trying to create a bogus case against Kerry the way they did against Gore. As Bob Somerby has pointed out repeatedly (http://www.dailyhowler.com/dh021003.shtml), this is the kind of non-story nitpicking that is the hallmark of the so-called liberal media. Kerry mentioned his Jewish roots years ago.

There was Joe Murphy in my son's bar mitzvah class...

Such a country, America...

That is so American mithology: to think that the only place in the world where different ethnic groups mix together is in America :)

I have never looked at the hard numbers for that, but I think the US is a lot more balkanized than Brazil, even if we consider only "White America".

From the Simpsons, "Mr. Lisa Goes to Washington": "When my family arrived in this country four months ago, we spoke no English and had no money in our pockets. Today, we own a nationwide chain of wheel-balancing centers. Where else but in America, or possibly Canada, could our family find such opportunity?"

It's funny this should be posted. I just received the church bulletin from my old parish in upstate NY (Greek Orthodox), which this month lists the members in good standing. I was surprised to see Greeks with names like Ben-Simon, O'Hara, Zimmerman, ... :-)

And then there's my friend Paul Murphy (good Jewish boy ... )
