Center for Information Work Productivity

Erik Brynjolfsson will be running a Center for Information Work Productivity at MIT to actually figure out how information technology actually boosts productivity. One key interesting thing: America's bosses really dislike Instant Messenger.

please fix it - i'm dying to know why the "boss class" dislikes Instant Messenger.

Speaking as a boss, i love it and encourage others to use it, so how am I failing my class position?

I'm also curious about the Instant Messaging comment. I work at Big Blue and we are selling LOTS of IM software. When combined with a dispersed workforce (read working from home and outsourced offices) we are saving Billions in occupancy costs. We have over 100,000 employees working outside of IBM facilities and about the same number on IM. We couldn't do it without IM software.
