Google Calculator

Google calculates that the speed of light is 1.8026175 1012 furlongs per fortnight...

The scary thing is that (tonight at least) it is faster than launching a calculator from the dock...

If you use the Google Toolbar on your browser it should defintely be faster than starting up a windows calc.

What you have (re-)discovered, essentially, is that a command-line interface is faster for some purposes than a GUI. You are using the Google search form [0] as the line editor for a command line interface. Unix users and rogrammers have been using this "read-eval-print" loop style of interaction for ages.

[0] Or your browser's location bar, if you have either Google toolbar or a browser with built-in Google search.
