Posted by: Robert Waldmann at August 21, 2004 07:46 PMI'd say that these repeated database corruption errors demonstrate the need for something better than a glorified flat-file storage system, which is all that MySQL's MyISAM tables really provide. That, with regular, pre-scheduled backups, would eliminate most of the problems to do with comment loss. I highly recommend taking a look at PostgreSQL, which has the needed features at an unbeatable price - $0.
As for WordPress, while I've been paying close attention to that platform since it began to garner attention, it is still completely tied to MySQL at present, which makes it a nonstarter if the problem is repeated database corruption to begin with.
