What they do know is how easy it is to sell the Muslim youth to their cause while Dubya remains the master of the White House, and the US keeps committing diplomatic blunders after diplomatic blunders. There remain allied liberal Arabs, but their numbers will keep dwindling unless Kerry wins this Presidential election. One can accuse Arabs of many political ills, but they do know the meaning of the word "cruisade" (recall that first word of "leadership" on behalf of the oh-so-steady President?)

He follows with the quote, "I promise you this, if George Bush loses the election, Osama bin Laden wins the election, it's that simple."

??? Now I'm confused! It seems to me that the real implication of that quote is that John Kerry is Osama bin Laden, by the transitive property of equality.

This gets me thinking. I don't have dental records or finger prints, but it *does* seem like John Kerry is a tall, rather thin guy. And Osama bin Laden is also a tall, rather thin guy. And--this is important--I've NEVER seen John Kerry and Osama bin Laden face-to-face! I've seen John Kerry. And I've seen Osama bin Laden. But they're never together. Very suspicious!

But is bin Laden (aka Kerry) really worse than Hilter? Well, maybe the Hilter who was in Somerset being born. But the other one...?

When asked about Bin Laden sometime in early '02, didn't Bush reply that he didn't think much about Bin Laden anymore? I remember that quote stood in marked contrast to the pre-Tora Bora "dead or alive" resolve. Anyway, perhaps someone who is more able than I can dredge up the time and place when Bush said he didn't think much about Bin Laden anymore.

Does this mean John Kerry is a High Islamist of Miltonian Grandeur, a vassal of Satan himself?

Heard a couple of GOP pundits debating the optimal point to capture OBL. First of all, can the Administration even choose this point in time? But what was galling was that 'optimal' was defined in terms of what would give Bush the most votes and not what was optimal from the point of American security. Oh yea - optimal in the latter sense would have been the summer of 2001 or even earlier.

Actually, I do know Clinton's fast exit out of Somalia is quite popular amongst the jihadists. They also have 50,000 Russians under their belt in Afghanistan. I wonder how they explain the quite paltry number of American casualties in Afghanistan before they hit the hills.

Who knows what OBL is thinking? Cole is advocating a vote of fear. Fear is not going to get us anywhere except where "terrorists" want us to go. Calm, rational thinking in spite of our fears and sustained effort against OBL is going to get us somewhere.

As many have reiterated here, who knows or cares what our enemies think of our resolve; our friends may well consider us crazier and more dangerous than any terror organization if we are stupid enough to re-elect the special interest Santa and his evil elves.

Hmmm...two Chinese academics are quoted briefly and without context. Then their quotes are transmuted into "many analysts." "Many analysts" - any whole number of analysts greater than 1.

Blair is having major problems. Havel is also memorable. but susceptible to defenstration. Berlusconi is memorable in quite a toxic way.

The others are all completely forgettable. You might as well have mentioned the Prime Ministers of Tonga and the Solomon Islands.

Support for the Iraq war almost never involved sending troops or money, and some of the countries which sent troops asked us to send them money.

Brad's piece ignores the simple reality that a whole lot of common folks, a *whole* lot, view Kerry as just another Clinton, albeit w/ a war record, and *believe Kerry is an Anti-Christ!*

So be very careful making fun of this thought-space. Tom Cole is just putting a voice to it.
Think how you would *counter*, not poo-poo it,
