Voting for Terrorists

Andrew Sullivan claims that a vote against George W. Bush is a vote for the terrorists:

www.AndrewSullivan.com - Daily Dish: Here's a quote from a Sadr relative that speaks volumes: "We may be unable to drive the Americans out of Iraq. But we can drive George W. Bush out of the White House." The violence in Iraq is designed to exert pressure indirectly by leveraging opposition to the war in the U.S. and Britain. The sadr-masochists know they cannot overwhelm the coalition militarily, so they need to destroy its morale at home, as well as create constant instability in Iraq.

Fafnir from Fafblog deals with this claim at an appropriate level:

Fafblog! the whole worlds only source for Fafblog.: The Fafblog Terrorist Voting Guide

Lately I have heard a lot of talk about voting for terrorists. It is apparently the hot new craze sweeping western democracies these days, who knew! Did you know that if the election were held today, the majority of Americans would vote for terrorists? It's true! But this got me thinking which sometimes happens. What kind of terrorists are Americans voting for? Informed voters are responsible voters, but who is informing voters about the policy positions of various terrorists? Which terrorist best represents you and your needs? Do you support Al Qaeda's single-payer health care plan or Ansar al-Islam's stance on tort reform? Fafblog is here to help with the internet's first-ever terrorist voting guide.

Doctor Apulus:

fafnir is, of course, covering for Kerry.

Kerry has in fact flip flopped on Santa Claus arguing against Santa Claus by supporting the 1st amendment while also engaging in the forbidden cult rituals of pointlessly killing trees, wasting electricity and hiding consumer goods in paper wrapping just as he hides his French agenda from Americans.

I remember these kinds of arguments during the Viet Nam war. The NV were trying to win the war with the ballot box in the US. They may have but I think we all now recognize that the US won that war by getting the hell out. The NV lost by winning that war but at a cost of a stagnant economy. We went on to greater strength both economically and militarily. The world did not come to an end because we got out of Viet Nam nor did the godless commies come irresitably out of Central America to steal our freedom and rape our women. There are some interesting lessions to learned from Viet Nam and Reagan's Contra wars.

I believe it was Stanley Karnow's (sp?) excellent "Vietnam: A Television History" that interviewed North Vietnamese generals who said they realized they could affect the U.S. through in its media... "If you attack a political system with images, you can change he way a Western government deals with war."--U.S. security thinktanker, last week on Lehrer's Newshour... You can bet we're not going to see what's going on right now.
