Matthew Yglesias joins the Fafblog! fraction:
Matthew Yglesias: June 06, 2004 - June 12, 2004 Archives: Lately I've seen a lot of people pointing out that Fafblog is brilliant. Fafblog is, indeed, brilliant.
It becomes more and more clear that only Fafblog! is capable of understanding American culture and politics at an appropriate level.
We are a political tendency of a new kind. Organized. Disciplined. Committed. Eager to work as a mighty united force for Fafnir, Giblets, and the Medium Lobster.

Posted by: bob mcmanus on June 12, 2004 05:41 PMIf you weren't an economist, I'd suggest that you get your economic prognostications from the Mogambo Guru, who appears occasionally over at www.dailyreckoning.com - it is not unlikely that he and Fafnir have drunk from the same KoolAid.

Posted by: d.parvin on June 12, 2004 09:44 PMAdd me, too, to the ranks of those who do not get either Fafblog, Giblets, or The Medium Lobster. Perhaps their subset of the spacetime continuum is just a few dimensions off of mine. But it's not for me...
Posted by: non economist on June 13, 2004 01:20 AMI don't claim to "get" fafblog.
But I sure do enjoy it, except when I'm careless enough to take a drink of coffee before opening the page.
They seem to me to be the archy & mehitabel of the Blog Movement. So they're a little more Dadaist and/or Magical Realist than the Beat poets. *Society* is a little more Dadaist and/or Magical Realist these days.
"They fill a unique if self-created niche in the Heisenbergian Reef of political discourse and pop pseudo-culture, one which creates its own consumers even as it provides yet more incremental fodder for conflicted discourse..."

I find Fafnir and Giblets a tad fey -- a sort of cross between Monty Python and Samuel Beckett, with a bit a Mr Bean thrown in. But I must confess, I'm a closet Medium Lobster groupie!
