Alan Blinder asks a good question:

Nobody is ever allowed to say anything bad about Reaganomics--especially since the Boy-King wants so badly to convince people that he's the spiritual heir to all that is Reagan.
Face it: We're in for multiple Reagasms over the next four months.

Posted by: Sullivan on June 18, 2004 10:38 AMYou are only allowed to say something less than reverential about Reagan if you are a Republican. After all, aren't they the ones that are saying the Bush deficits are not as bad as the 6% of GDP deficit that occurred when Reagan was president?
And that's almost an ultimate irony. At the same time the Republicans are cannonizing Reagan, they are also using him as an example of what not to do.

Posted by: Mike on June 18, 2004 11:08 AMEven admitting that there was anything wrong with Reaganomics is the equivalent of the turd in the punch bowl, mourning, morning, noon or night.
David Stockman used a favorite story of Reagan's to describe Reaganomics. "A boy woke up Xmas morning and found a room full of horse manure. The boy happily started shoveling the horse manure. 'There has got to be a pony in there somewhere!'"
We are still shoveling Reaganomics. Still no sign of the pony. The right wing still insist the pony was there all along and they can point to mountains of horse manure as proof.
Posted by: bakho on June 18, 2004 08:39 PMHas the blog taken a scatalogical turn? I need to know (desperately!) whether the former Fed member made the remark earnestly, straight-facedly, slightly tongue in cheekedly, or with blatant scathing sarcasm. Let's hope it's not the first one.
