Just pay one consultant hour to have the URLs fixed.

It isn't that hard.

It still doesn't fix the underlying problem (common to all blogs) of article being referenced by URL, not IDs, though.

This is exactly the kind of thing that Apache's mod_rewrite is perfect for. Easy enough to fix the dead links you know about and then add the 404's you see in the logs. Completely transparent to anyone linking to you.

Folks, you should _never_ use MT's internal database IDs for URLs, in fact, you should never use anything's internal database IDs for anything other than ephemeral database linkages that aren't globally visable. I like Brad's long context-providing quotes but sometimes I'm kind of suprised that they don't cross the line into copyright violation.

Yeah, what Andrew and dbt said. I also disliked the internal IDs because it made it harder to read my stats and know what pages people were clicking on.
