People are telling me I can get my July dose of "horse" and thus stop the withdrawal symptoms (which I am suffering as a result of the late arrival of George R.R. Martin's A Feast for Crows). All I have to do, they say, is buy and read Steven Erikson'sGardens of the Moon (Malazan Book of the Fallen : 1)

Is there any real news about Feast of Crows? Or is this just another version of the old fannish "real soon now" (=maybe some day, maybe not)?

Posted by: Mike on June 25, 2004 04:22 PMWell, to be honest, you read gardens of the moon so that you can read the sequel (Deadhouse Gates). GOTM is fun, but is clearly the first work of an imaginative writer. The sequel was written 6 years later, and is much more polished.
The rest (though book 6, if you order from amazon.co.uk) are also good. The short novel(s) that attend the series are excellent, as well.

Re: AFFC, see Martin's site at http://www.georgerrmartin.com and the "About A FEST FOR CROWS" link. There's an update regarding progress. There's a small possibility it'll be out this year, though the first quarter of 2005 seems likelier.
