With all the MT problems you've had, you should consider getting it over with and upgrade to WP. It's technically superior, easier to deal with, and I've never seen it crash.

Use Wordpress. Comment spam cannot take it down, its free and open source.

Slowly you will win out against the technology gremlins. Please try to make the comments sections more immediate to allow conversations and clarifications about your wonderful posts. Comments take about 5 minutes to post on a high speed line, and then may not appear for 2 to 24 hours.

Since that message went through, a little more detail.
I tried to comment on the Business week article, and got an
error 80 when I tried to post and
a "the post you are commenting on does not exist" message when I tried to preview.
