Ex-Netscaper Marc Andreesen tries to rationalize promising more than you could deliver:
D I T H E R A T I: "Many customers who bought early feel bitter. But at some point those things will hit the mainstream and work."

I must be missing the point. Why should I be bitter? Sure, I was never thrilled having to make an effort to learn DOS commands. However, did somebody con me? I don’t think so. Much has been made regarding companies like Microsoft releasing buggy software. However, what was the alternative? The cost of a so-called perfect software package would have been too expensive. Marc Andreessen has nothing to apologize for early in his career. Netscape’s web browser revolutionized our world for the better.
Lastly, I now can brag to my grandchildren that I lived in the good old days. “You kids don’t know how good you have it. I can remember when my computer crashed at least ten times a day. A screen saver was truly a screen saver! The world changed dramatically when Windows 95 came out. And no, the year was 1995 and not 1895.”
