Wow, somehow I missed this (obsessive viewer that I am). This is one of my absolute favorite fantasies. I might prefer Tigana, but all of Kay's semi-historical fantasy is quite good.

After reading this book, I started going through the history of languedoc, and I wanted to visit narbonne. But then again, why not visit south france?

It is fun to try to match the various families in the book with the real royals they are based on. I particularly liked the medicis.
